Four checks before using a diesel price.
A price can be official and still be the wrong reference for a quotation if the grade, effective date, zone or price type is different.
0.05% or 0.005% sulphur
The two diesel grades have separate official references. Compare like with like and confirm the grade stated in the supplier’s quote.
Correct monthly cycle
Fuel-price adjustments normally take effect on the first Wednesday of the month. Confirm that the schedule and quotation use the same effective cycle.
Correct magisterial district
Transport-zone differentials mean inland, coastal and other district references are not interchangeable. Confirm the actual delivery or pricing location.
Reference versus delivered price
Identify whether the figure is an official wholesale list price, supplier base price, pump price or delivered commercial quote.
Understand what the quotation adds.
The official schedule is an essential reference point, but a real transaction may include commercial and delivery components that need to be stated separately and understood.
